Description
Day 1 – Reykjavík – Arrival
Arrive/start the tour in Reykjavík. Meet the tour leader and fellow travellers at the hotel. Enjoy an included Icelandic welcome dinner. Overnight in Reykjavík.
Day 2 – Reykjavík → Akureyri
Travel through the Hvalfjörður Tunnel. Visit Deildartunguhver, one of Europe’s highest-flow hot springs. Continue to Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls and see the traditional Víðimýrarkirkja turf church. Cross the Öxnadalsheiði mountain pass to Akureyri. Overnight in Akureyri.
Day 3 – Akureyri → Egilsstaðir Region
Visit Goðafoss, the “Waterfall of the Gods”. Stop at Skútustaðagígar pseudocraters at Lake Mývatn. Enjoy an included lunch. Explore Dimmuborgir lava formations and the Námaskarð geothermal area. Continue to Dettifoss, subject to road conditions, before travelling through the Möðrudalsöræfi highlands to the Egilsstaðir region.
Day 4 – Egilsstaðir → Höfn
Enjoy a scenic drive along Iceland’s Eastfjords through dramatic coastal landscapes towards Breiðdalsvík. Continue to Djúpivogur, known as Iceland’s “slow town”, and see the famous Eggs of Merry Bay. Continue to Höfn. Overnight in Höfn.
Day 5 – Höfn → Selfoss
Visit spectacular Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and nearby Diamond Beach. Cross the Eldhraun lava fields to Vík. Visit Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, followed by Skógafoss waterfall and Seljalandsfoss waterfall. Continue to Selfoss. Overnight in Selfoss.
Day 6 – Selfoss → Reykjavík | Golden Circle
Explore Iceland’s famous Golden Circle. Visit Gullfoss waterfall and the Geysir geothermal area, where Strokkur geyser regularly erupts. Continue to Thingvellir National Park and walk through Almannagjá Gorge. Return to Reykjavík for an included farewell dinner.
Day 7 – Reykjavík – Departure
Breakfast at the hotel followed by the end of the tour. Guests may extend their stay with an optional Snæfellsnes Peninsula extension, including an additional night in Reykjavík.
